The Irish Dental Hygienist Conference on Saturday in Carton house was by all accounts an outstanding success. There was a huge turnout and the sponsors where delighted with the response. A hugh thank you to Louise Fleming, Kellie O'Shaughnessy, Donna patton ,Catherine Waldron and the committee for organising the event. Carton House hotel is one of the most beautiful places to visit , their Staff and facilities are ultra professional.
The hands- on course on treatment for furcation involvement was oversubscribed three fold with standing room only. I had intended for 16 attendees only but could easily have doubled that number. Judging by their feedback it seems to be a great success. I hope to repeat this in the future.
The lecture on dental records highlighted the huge respect the Irish public have with the dental hygienist's in Ireland .Communication with patients is key and according to the Irish dental council there were No formal complaints in the last 5 years .They are well organised and their complaint's system appears to reflect this .They are to be to be warmly congratulated- well done to everyone .
I am fortunate to have been part of it and now am going to take a few days off to recover .Speaking with the delegates afterwards proved to be hugely worthwhile and rewarding . There appears to be many issues surrounding records and the future is changing rapidly . I promise to sort out the many requests and will reply to them over the course of the next few days. I had the most brilliant time and it was great fun and if anyone wants a copy -- just e-mail me .
