Jerh. O'Connor & Sons Ltd have been serving the people of Cork and surrounding areas for almost 100 years. The company was founded by Jeremiah O'Connor, himself a second generation funeral director. Jeremiah O'Connor went to America where he attended the Renard School of Embalming in New York and when he returned home was one of the first funeral directors in the country to practice the art of embalming, a man of vision he was joined in the company by two of his three sons Willie and Derry O'Connor. With a choice of funeral home locations in Cork, the company's head office is situated at Coburg Street, Cork. In the early eighties with Cork City expanding, Jerh O'Connors funeral homes Cork opened the first custom built funeral home in the country on Sarsfield Road in the western suburbs, following on from there the company opened its next funeral home in Temple Hill, Boreenmanna Road. At the turn of the 21st century Mr. Tom Barry of the Barry Family, a well known and respected family in Glanmire, decided he would like to retire from business and we were delighted that he chose us to continue serving the families of Glanmire that availed of his funeral service in their time of need. The present members of family involved in the day to day running of the company are Kevin, Brian and Geraldine. They are supported by a very committed group of caring people whose aim is to serve the family in a practical, efficient and sensitive manner.
