Dental anxiety (sometimes referred to as Dental Phobia) is a perfectly valid normal physiological (body/mind/emotion) response in a healthy person to past trauma that has never been resolved. Dental anxiety can be triggered by a previous frightening or terrifying dental experience. The good news is that, like all phobias and anxieties, dental anxiety is completely treatable and healable.

A mouthguard (sometimes called a gumshield) is a protective dental device custom made to cover your teeth and gums, shielding against possible injury or trauma and preventing accidental biting of your tongue. It is used in most types of contact sports and other sporting or recreational activities where personal injury is possible.

Dental x-rays play a very important role in the daily work of dentists. They allow dentists to identify disease, decay and possible tooth fractures. In the case of children, in addition to detecting underlying (non-visual) issues, x-rays allow the dentist to monitor the development of teeth over time.

Dentures are removable artificial teeth designed to replace missing teeth. They are used to restore the appearance of your smile whilst also attempting to restore the function of the missing teeth. Dentures are generally made of acrylic which is the least expensive but cast metals like cobalt/chrome or titanium can also be used and are superior appliances. They are designed to comfortably fit around your gums and remaining teeth.

If you have a missing tooth or perhaps more than one, a dental bridge can be fitted to the gap with one or more artificial teeth. Dental bridges are one of the most functional and natural-looking prosthetic teeth solutions available today. They can be made from many materials but often these days are made from zirconia which is a more durable form of porcelain. Bridges are anchored on two or more crowns on either side of the existing missing tooth gap.
