Ronan left the world of banking and started his life as a jeweller when be began working alongside a friend in his jewellery store. He intended to help his friend for six months but fell in love with the industry. Once Ronan realised he had such a profound interest, he immersed himself in knowledge and studies of diamonds and gemstones. Ronan studied at GIA (Gemological Institute of America), The National Association of Goldsmiths (London) and also took numerous certified courses on coloured gemstones and the craft of jewellery making. With a backpack of knowledge, Ronan set forth and travelled the world from Hong Kong, New York, Russia, Africa and Europe building up an extensive book of contacts. All in preparation for the new journey he was about to embark. upon. Some said it was madness but Ronan choose to open his business in 2007 just as the world's financial crisis was beginning to take hold. He believed that a business that could survive a recession would last the test of time, so he overcame his fears, convinced the bank he had a strong business model and founded what is Campbell Jewellers, his first solo venture. Ronan's first store opened in September 2007, in Citywest. From the day he opened, business was strong but this was down to a lot of hard work and one clear goal- To look after their customers and deliver outstanding quality. There were some tough times. Open less than twelve months, Ronan was hit with a situation that could have easily closed down his business. His store was destroyed in a late night robbery. Ronan says this was without doubt one of the toughest periods in his career but thankfully with the support from his family and friends and a lot of long days and late nights he got the business back up and running quickly.
