In 2003 the company merged with the gourmet sandwich company, Bendini & Shaw, to combine a quality food offering with its hot beverage range. In 2005 the Insomnia acquired the Perk cafes. The company is owned equally by Bobby Kerr (Chairman), Harry O’Kelly (CEO) and John Clohisey. In April 2012, the Insomnia High street franchise was launched and the process of recruiting new franchise owners began with a target of opening 15 franchise stores in 5 years. The first franchise store was opened in 2013, with additional franchise stores already in the pipe line. 2015 saw the announcement of an exciting new partnership with leading international retailer, Debenhams, where Insomnia plan to open in a number of Debenhams outlets across the UK and Ireland over the coming months. The first of these launched at Debenhams in the Mahon Point Shopping Centre, Cork. The Cork store was followed promptly by the first UK outlet opening in Rugby and the second UK outlet opening in Bradford in November. As well as Debenhams, Insomnia have also confirmed a partnership with leading Irish based retail business, Primark. This year, three Insomnia concession stores have been rolled out at Penneys in Waterford, Swords and Athlone. We have one simple philosophy; that you get the best cup of coffee, in whichever format you choose, every time you visit our stores. Quality and Innovation are at the core of this philosophy. From the Fairtrade coffee we serve, to the handcrafted technique we use to make every single cup. Change is good and we like to see the word 'new' in our stores regularly. We have an appetite for innovation, whether that's new flavours, new technologies or new stores, we are always looking for new ways to surprise and delight.
