Maya O'Brien Bridal Alterations, Cork

I am sharing my experience with Maya so that anyone considering working with her can make an informed decision on whether or not they want to take the risk. I booked Maya to alter my vow renewal dress, she had great reviews online. I first dropped the dress off on 24th July and I shared all the details of when I’d need my dress. I had trouble getting responses from her almost right away as you will see from my texts on 24th, 29th, and 30th July. I did my first post-alteration try-on on 31st July and discussed the possibility of me picking up my dress the week of 5th August after a few additional alterations, but she said I would need to confirm the week of. When I reached out that week she said it would be ready the following week instead…no problem, as it would have been a very quick turnaround. I followed up on 14th August and didn’t hear back, so I followed up again on 15th August, she responded to say I could get the dress Sunday, 17th August. When Sunday came she offered up a late time or that I could come the next day, I had family in town so I opted for the next day. When I followed up, we agreed on a time and about an hour before that time she told me she had Covid, meaning I would have to wait a week more to get my dress (obviously I also hoped she was feeling ok!). I let her know in my response on 18th August that I would need the dress back on Monday 25th August, no response. I messaged her over the weekend to say I hope she was feeling better, no response. I followed up the morning of 25th August about coming that evening, she responded to ask what time and then stopped responding. I waited around at work hoping to hear back from her…I texted multiple times and called twice, no response. I left work and tried to call her two more times, she never answered nor called or texted back. The next day, on the advice of others, I texted her to tell her firmly to say I would be by at 7pm that evening to collect my dress. I also tried two more times to call with no answer. She never returned any of my calls but sent the a confusing text around 11am to say I could pick the dress up at 6, which I was finally able to do. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because my alterations are wonderful and I must give credit for her abilities. However this experience would have been extremely stressful if I was a bride and I’d hate for someone else to be put through “the hell of the unknown” as the other reviewer said. It’s really a shame as she’s a talented seamstress, but this was not worth the stress of wondering if my dress had disappeared or if I’d get it in time for my renewal. I hope this helps someone!

I wasn't going to write this review but my experience with Maya O Brian I would not like to happen to any other bride. I met Maya the day I bought my dress she was very friendly and experienced so I was happy to book my alterations with her😊 When I went to my alterations I brought my shoes and miss read her txt to bring my dress I felt so stupid cause the txt clearly said bring your dress we laughed and re booked this appointment we agreed to leave my shoes at her studio I was happy to do so, in the meantime I saw another bridal shoe and txt maya could I get the shoes back that she had to return for the shoes I found. No reply I waited 6hours still no reply I rang her no answer I started to worry I went to her Facebook page she was online I messaged her she came off line I'm thinking why is she ignoring me I txt her again and finally she replied, her message was unprofessional talking about her personal life making me feel guilty, the following day I messaged her again can I have my shoes ASAP!! no reply I'm feeling stressed and worried!! I rang no answer so I said I'm gunna call to her studio and of course she wasn't there, I rang her 5 time 1 after another she finally messaged me back with again personal messages I text her back to say look Maya your personal life has no to do with me this is very unfair what your doing all I want is my shoes 🙏 this all made me tink thank god it wasn't my dress🙉 finally she agreed to meet that evening. As the day went on no reply on wat time ringing her no answer, I took the chance after 6pm not knowing if she would be there, I finally got to her studio and in my horror she threw my shoes on the floor outside her studio and she wasn't there so she wouldn't have to face me, I know there only shoes but those two days she put me through hell of the unknown my wedding is in 4 weeks and this was very unfair 😭 I wish her well but really hope this doesn't happen to any1 else.
